Some shots of a skateboarder in action...

This skateboarder was performing tricks in a square and I asked him if I could take some photos, and he said yes. It seemed to me he was pretty good at skateboarding. And it was fun because I had never tried shooting skateboarding. I set the camera to extremely short exposure (1/4000 s) to "freeze" the action and also used fast burst mode (I call it "machine gun mode") and took some shots.

The following is a montage for a joke, but you have to admire the work:

And for those who find it too difficult to squint, I scaled it down to obtain the same effect:

Kudzu conquers all...

IMG_0304.jpeg

This is a former section of highway US-70 between Black Mountain and Old Fort NC. After it was superseded by the nearby I-40 expressway, it was converted to a bike/hike trail.

I hiked part of it on Saturday, about a mile out and then back. On the outward trip, I thought, "gee, what an easy walk." After I turned around, I realized I had been going downhill... and now I was going uphill!

A sign at Point Lookout, where I turned around, notes that the trail is 3.6 miles long, with a total climb of about 900 feet going west, up the edge of the Blue Ridge. That's an average grade of about 4.7%.

Close-up shots of the eyes of my two cats:

Not easy to do for a number of reasons , but fun. They were resting, which made it easier.

The Thai Ministry of Health legalized cannabis in the country June of last year. Now everywhere you look there is a new place. From little kiosks to large establishments. The colors on this place made it worth photos.

I guess that the acronym for American Association of Retired Pooches was already taken.

Yesterday the 13th was a royal holiday in the kingdom. So I assume this was made to honor one of the past kings. There are many many holidays in Thailand: royal family, government, religious ...

Ran across a long set of photos on "architectural wonders of the past" from around the world. Really has some amazing stuff that people / civilizations have done. This was not the most impressive, but jumped out at me for sheer weirdness. The dot circled in blue is a person. I can only think that the tower was populated by Sir Thigh the Strong

Access to the top is only through a circular internal staircase.

I suspect a woodpecker.
They don't have the right anatomy to hold anything with their legs, so some external tools are required.
And, of course, only a fool would abandon a proven tool o0)

Usually this time that patch of forest is full with these classics... This year, so far only some babies - and this lone 'young adult' looking for prospect

Ps.: the meaning of 'full' above (older photo):
