SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on the need for quality reference books in embedded and hardware design, particularly for recent graduates. The user expresses difficulty in recalling fundamental concepts such as transistors, diodes, and op-amps, which are essential for hardware design. Recommendations include "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill (AoE), a foundational text for both embedded and hardware design. The conversation emphasizes the importance of revisiting these core topics to enhance practical skills in the field.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic electronic components: transistors, diodes, and op-amps
  • Familiarity with embedded systems design principles
  • Knowledge of circuit analysis techniques
  • Basic proficiency in reading technical literature related to electronics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill for foundational knowledge
  • Explore additional resources on circuit design and analysis
  • Study practical applications of transistors, diodes, and op-amps in hardware projects
  • Investigate online courses or tutorials focused on embedded systems and hardware design fundamentals
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for recent graduates, electronics engineers, and hardware designers seeking to refresh their knowledge in embedded systems and fundamental electronic components.

I would appreciate it if anyone could add good quality reference books that would benefit me. I graduated in May and I have forgotten a lot of the material especially hardware design wise and my job is a mixture of embedded design and hardware design.

The embedded side I am doing fine but hardware wise I am drawing blanks especially with the fundamentals such as transistors, diodes, and op-amps.

There are a ton of books out there so I am going to try this forum to see if anyone has a favorite.

You can start with the AoE by H&H, and branch out from there:
