Searching for a Gasoline Engine Drawing: 3.5-4 Liters

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for gasoline engine drawings specifically within the 3.5-4 liter displacement range. User Oleg expresses difficulty in finding detailed engine drawings, noting that while platforms like Google and GrabCAD offer models, they often lack specific information regarding engine specifications. The consensus is that due to the proprietary nature of engine designs, comprehensive drawings are not readily available, as manufacturers invest significant resources in their development.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of engine displacement and its significance in engine design.
  • Familiarity with online engineering resources such as GrabCAD.
  • Knowledge of proprietary information in automotive engineering.
  • Basic research skills for navigating technical databases and libraries.
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore GrabCAD for alternative engine models and specifications.
  • Investigate automotive engineering textbooks for detailed diagrams and explanations.
  • Search for academic papers on engine design that may include technical drawings.
  • Visit local libraries or university engineering departments for access to specialized resources.
USEFUL FOR

Automotive engineers, mechanical engineering students, and hobbyists interested in engine design and specifications will benefit from this discussion.

Hi all
I'm looking for gasoline engine drawing with a displacement of 3.5-4 liters. Any suggestions where I could find one?

An engine will have thousands of drawings. Have you tried Google? Or your local library? Or grabcad etc?

I've tried google but didn't find much, if there were any drawings they had only general dimensions. Local library might not have such data... Grabcad got models of engines but they doesn't mention their specification, so I don't know wherther it petrol or diesel engine or what it's displacement, those are important for me.

That's likely all you'll find. Developing an engine costs millions, manufacturers won't just hand out the thousands of drawings for years of r&d work.
What exactly do you want them for?
