Sure. It revealed a lack of biological understanding. My thought was simply that the magpie wants to survive, too. If you're a mouse or a fish then you have drawn the a** card as we say here. (It is assumed that it refers to the red card that a football (sorry, soccer) referee uses to send off players and which is usually placed in the back pocket of his shorts. But that's a hypothesis. Everybody uses "drawn the a** card" for miserable situations but nobody actually knows were it came from.)berkeman said:

I posted about the Short List of photos for Wildlife Photographer of the Year back in November (it was the polar bear sleeping on an iceberg), but this one from the winners list is utterly amazing. It had to exist for only half a second or so, and this photographer happened to capture it. Amazing!
