Sure. It revealed a lack of biological understanding. My thought was simply that the magpie wants to survive, too. If you're a mouse or a fish then you have drawn the a** card as we say here. (It is assumed that it refers to the red card that a football (sorry, soccer) referee uses to send off players and which is usually placed in the back pocket of his shorts. But that's a hypothesis.
