SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on calculating the relative velocity of two cars, Car A and Car B, both traveling east at different speeds. Car A travels at 30 mi/hr, while Car B travels at 10 mi/hr. The correct formula for determining the relative velocity is Vrelative = Va - Vb. Thus, the relative velocity of Car A to Car B is 20 mi/hr, confirming the initial calculation after a minor correction.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic physics concepts, specifically relative motion.
  • Familiarity with velocity and speed terminology.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for performing subtraction.
  • Knowledge of directional movement (east in this case).
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the concept of relative velocity in physics.
  • Explore examples of relative motion in different contexts, such as trains or planes.
  • Learn about vector addition and its application in calculating velocities.
  • Study the effects of acceleration on relative velocity in dynamic systems.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for students studying physics, educators teaching motion concepts, and anyone interested in understanding relative velocity calculations in real-world scenarios.

If Car A is going 30mi/hr east, and Car B is going 10mi/hr east. What is the relative velocity of Car A to Car B?

Wouldn't this just be Va - Vb = Vrelative? So.. 30mi/hr - 10mi/hr, the answer would be 20mi/hr?

Any help, thanks.

Concept is right, but there is a mistake in your math.

Opps, lmao. huge mistake, I totally meant to write 20mi/hr. Anyway. Thanks!

thursday and taking abck sunday eh? good bands
