AI Thread Summary
The user is experiencing issues with a G-Force FX 5200 graphics card on a Biostar M7VKQ motherboard while running Windows XP Service Pack 1. The monitor goes into a suspended mode after booting, indicating a potential driver conflict. Recommendations include disabling the onboard VGA in BIOS, switching to "default VGA" drivers before disabling the onboard graphics, and attempting to boot in safe mode. If safe mode is successful, uninstalling the previous graphics drivers and installing new ones for the FX 5200 is advised. If safe mode fails, it may indicate a hardware issue.

ello all,
i just bought a g force fx 5200 on pci ( i know its not top of the line but itll serve my needs) but i can't seem to get it to run. on boot up the monitor light goes orange (Suspended mode screen goes black) I am using a M7VKQ by biostar as a mobo and I am running windows xp service pack 1 as an os. on a few other forums they sugested disabeling the onboard vga but in bios i only got a option to switch between the defaults (onboard or PCI). this allows me to use the new card in dos and in the bios but when the os comes up the simptoms return. I've also tried uninstalling the onboard but its the same all thing.

help?

Before you disable the onboard, change the driver to "default vga". It sounds like its trying to boot with the old drivers for the new card.

Try booting in safe mode. If it doesn't boot in safe mode, it's a hardware problem. If it does boot in safe mode, uninstall the drivers for the previous card, and install new drivers.

This week, I saw a documentary done by the French called Les sacrifiés de l'IA, which was presented by a Canadian show Enquête. If you understand French I recommend it. Very eye-opening. I found a similar documentary in English called The Human Cost of AI: Data workers in the Global South. There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
