Strange Lights Spotted After Power Outage

AI Thread Summary
A recent power surge left approximately 65,000 residents in Arizona without electricity, coinciding with reports of unusual lights in the sky. This surge was significant enough to cause a shutdown of all three units at the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. Eyewitnesses in the West Valley observed strange hovering lights around the same time as the outage, leading to speculation about a possible connection between the two events. Discussions around the phenomenon include various interpretations of the lights, with some suggesting they could be glowing kites, balloons, or fireworks. The linked video showcasing these lights is currently inaccessible, but the accompanying photos have sparked interest and further inquiry into the nature of the sightings.

(CBS 5 News)---It was a power surge that left up to 65-thousand Arizonans in the dark one week ago. Now, some are pointing to strange lights in the skies as a possible link to that massive outage. The disturbance was large enough to shut-down all 3 units at the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. About the same time as this massive power outage some people in the West Valley spotted something strange hovering in the sky.[continued]

I can't view the video, but the photo's were more interesting than most.

What does the video show, about movement and distance and such?

you know, the more and more I look into this stuff the more and more I start believing it. A bunch of glowing kites? Balloons with lights? Those firework things that do the same thing?

I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
