SUMMARY

Studying Physics at Russian universities, particularly at Lomonosov Moscow State University, presents challenges, including a high fail rate among students. The discussion highlights that a Bachelor’s degree in Physics typically spans 5-6 years, with many graduates achieving publication in scientific journals prior to pursuing PhDs abroad. Proficiency in the Russian language is essential for attending lectures, although some programs may offer courses in English. Notable institutions for Physics include Novosibirsk State University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).

Is it good to study Physics (Bachelor Degree) in Russian Universities?

Which university is the best in Physics in Russia?

How can I determine which branch of Physics should I study?

Is it a must to learn Russian in order to attend the lecture?

Is there any class that will use English as major of teaching medium?

I saw some posts from other forum talking about there is a high fail rate for any Physics programme at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Many students can't graduate from this university successfully. Is that true?

Thank you very much!

I've met a couple of russians in engineering and science, they come from a variety of schools such as Novosibirsk, Moscow State, MIPT, and others.. They are quite capable, all of them already have a master degree (I think this is standard from Russian Education). The program i think is 5-6 years. All of them are already published in scientific journals before arriving to the US for their PhDs.

I think russian language is a must, except if you plan to go abroad for a summer.
