In summary, the little lizard poem is about a lizard that runs into the leaves of a canyon. The blizzard is coming and the lizard needs to find a warm place to shelter from the cold.

I'd love to have those in my kitchen. And I would buy some for Evo if they had possum footprints.

If you get a chance to visit Fonthill Castle in Doylestown, PA, you will see a most unusual building made of concrete and decorated with tile. It was the home of Henry Mercer. There you will find dog paw prints, not in the abstract, but in the concrete.
Hmmmm. I think we have a subject for the next poem thread: footprints.

I once was bewitched with a wizard
Looking lost like the leg of a lizard
Mulling much mental meander
So I'll stick to a slick salamander.

There's one about Jesus and footprints that's pretty cool...or is that a poem...I forget -_-

I forget little lizard
The path your fragile feet take
Did you climb a mountain today
Or rest by the lake?

Did you look to the sky
And stick that red thing out your neck?
I don't know what it's called,
But I think it's cool as heck

My lizard he longs for days greener
His family and friends have got meaner
He posted some shots
Of his bulging buttox
Now his nickname is Congressman Weener

Lounging lizard in the street
soaking up the radiant heat
Should have stayed in his abode
now he's just a bump in the road.

There's a worm moving violently
And I can't tell it's head from it's end.
Hello little lizard!
Where's your tail, my friend?

"Little Winged Lizard"

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
Little lizard topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind he's trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out his webbed hand, and touched the face of God.

Beware little lizard
The situation's quite dire
Run for your life
Away from the tire
Splat, splat, splat,
And that was that

My little lizard lives in my pants
Hope he doesn't rot, because then there will be ants.

Little lizard,
stay away from me and my dreams.
Last time you chased me
down a narrow alley,
I hate you since then!

Don't hate the little lizard
So green and so pure
He doesn't deserve hatred
He's someone you should adore:tongue2:

And so, dry scaly friends,
We are learning why there are not many verses about you:
The poets tend to kill you off.

Is there some ancient hate between the reptile and the rhymster?
Or do they envy your parched, quiet wisdom?
Do they wish they could live off bugs and the sun like you?
And be self sufficient in the Galapagos surf?

How were they provoked to run you down
With cars? And mock, and plagiarize?
You're just a little thing.

Nothing skitters like a lizard
Rushing into crispy canyon leaves, dropped from the tough brush
Fallen and curled dry

Brittle, loud leaves briefly shivering:
A lizard alarm
From an alarmed lizard

And we are the monster.

Hey, I got a "chick poet" thing going on here. Seems to revolve around sympathy for helpless little critters.

bugs deceive a lizard
prolific where he went
blinded to the blizzard
so into eternity he went!

This thread amuses me, as we actually bought a pet lizard two weeks ago. It's a blue tongue skink, it doesn't skitter, but rather just sort of lumbers along. Favorite food seems to be blueberries, likes cat food too. We lost a dog Tess that we had for twelve years, my wife needed a new pet to distract her, she suggested a reptile for some reason, of course I could not resist. His name is Izzy. If you talented folks could set this amazing story into poetry, we will certainly post it on his terrarium. Thanks in advance!

On the day that Izzy met Lizzy
He fell for her into a tizzy
Then the two really got busy
Till their cold blood boiled up fizzy
But the question that has me dizzy
I got to know. Is he really Izzy?

We looked for religion, but we needed a shrink,
maybe we just should have bought a blue-tongued skink.
