Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the search for an undergraduate-level text focused on batteries and battery management, including the desire for accompanying exercises. Participants consider whether existing resources in electrochemistry or physical chemistry might suffice.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant questions the existence of a suitable undergraduate text specifically on batteries and battery management.
  • Another suggests checking battery manufacturer websites for potentially useful information.
  • A different participant mentions a basic tutorial from Battery University as a resource that may be relevant.
  • One participant emphasizes the importance of a structured text that includes exercises for practice, rather than relying solely on manufacturer information.
  • Another participant acknowledges having seen the Battery University site but does not confirm its adequacy for their needs.
  • A participant calls on others for recommendations, indicating a desire for expert input on battery chemistry resources.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the availability of an appropriate undergraduate text, and multiple viewpoints regarding resource adequacy remain present.

Contextual Notes

There is an implied limitation regarding the depth and organization of information available from manufacturer websites compared to a dedicated textbook. The discussion also reflects uncertainty about the sufficiency of existing tutorials and resources.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in battery technology, battery management systems, and educational resources in electrochemistry or physical chemistry may find this discussion relevant.

Is there such a thing? Or, alternately, am I just better off with an echem and/or physical chemistry book?

Thanks

Have you looked at the battery manufacturer websites for that kind of information? I would think that they would have useful information in their tech sections...

Of course there is much useful information on manufacturer websites. The point of a text is to present information in an organized manner and give me exercises for practice.

Yes, I've seen that site.
