SUMMARY

The undergraduate physics course at the Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) is regarded as the premier program in India due to its highly competitive entrance exam and rigorous selection process. However, alternative institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), St. Stephen's College, Loyola College, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Chennai, Presidency College, and the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) also offer excellent undergraduate physics programs. Prospective students should consider these alternatives when evaluating their options for physics education in India.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of competitive entrance exams in India
  • Familiarity with undergraduate physics curriculum
  • Knowledge of notable Indian educational institutions
  • Awareness of career prospects in physics

I held the view that the undergraduate physics course at CMI as the best undergraduate physics course in India as the entrance exam is competitive and tough. Very few are selected. But after reading the article: http://www.cmi.ac.in/~anirbit/CMI_Physics.pdf
I feel disheartened since getting to the CMI physics course had been my dream.
What do you guys feel?
If not CMI, what are the other 'really' good undergraduate physics courses offered in India?
