Variation of rubber with temperature

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the relationship between temperature and the restoring force of rubber, specifically highlighting that the restoring force increases with temperature due to entropy. The unstrained state of rubber is described as entropically favorable, aligning with established thermodynamic principles. The participant intends to conduct an experiment to test these claims, indicating a practical approach to understanding rubber's properties. Additional resources, such as a link to a relevant article, were shared for further exploration of rubber's unique behaviors.

My materials professor told me the restoring force of rubber increases with temperature because of entropy. At normal solid forms because the structure is energetically favorable. He says the unstreched state is entropically favorable. Is this reasonable? I plan to test it this weekend when I have time.
