Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around measurements of Earth in a physics context, specifically focusing on its circumference, radius, diameter, and volume based on a given quadrant measurement.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking, Problem interpretation

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants explore the relationship between the quadrant measurement and Earth's circumference, questioning the definition of a quadrant. Some suggest using basic geometry principles to derive the required measurements.

Discussion Status

The discussion includes various interpretations of the original poster's question, with some participants providing insights into geometric relationships. There is no explicit consensus on the approach to take, but guidance on using the quadrant measurement to find other dimensions has been suggested.

Contextual Notes

Participants note the original definition of the meter in relation to Earth's circumference, indicating a historical context that may influence understanding. The original poster expresses uncertainty about the problem, while others question their foundational knowledge in geometry.

Hello guys, I really need your help. I have a homework in physics, i know this questions is easy for others but i don't know how to solve this, i tried googling:(

So here's the question: ( i need solutions too)
1. If Earth's quadrant is 10 000 000m, what is the circumference of earth?
2. What is the radius of earth?
3. What is the diameter of earth?
4. What is the volume of the earth?

Pls respect my thread thank you very much in advance ! :D

Doesn't a quadrant refer to 1/4 of the way round the Earth?

Didn't you ever study basic geometry (circles, spheres, and all that)?

Yes. The original definition of the metre was that there were 10,000,000 of them to one quarter of Earth's circumference.

Radius: 3,959 miles (6,371 km)Age: 4.54 billion yearsDistance from Sun: 92,960,000 miles (149,600,000 km)Mass: 5.972E24 kgPopulation: 6.974 billion (2011) World BankMoon: Moon

you should be able to get it off this information.

but if you took your quadrant number and mult. by 4 you would get the circ. then you could plug pi and your circ into the equation to get the radius. then get dia. then volume.

Thank you for replying guys. I already know the answer . Ty for your time :)

Didn't sound like it from the OP.

lol...
