What challenges do students face in outdated university programs?

I will be a third year physics student at a state university in America starting this Fall.

Bummer. I had the same problem 50 years ago when I went to Ga. Tech. for an EE degree and found that while the world was moving on to transistors, their stellar reputation was still based on power engineering and tube technology. Good luck.

Thanks. Often times "authority"/admin isn't always right...the administrators here just seem so lazy and unorganized here, I think they are planning to dump their entire physics program. That won't look to good when I apply for MIT...lol
