SUMMARY

A green cloth illuminated by yellow light will appear yellow. This is because the green cloth reflects both blue and yellow wavelengths when exposed to white light. However, under yellow light, which lacks blue wavelengths, the cloth can only reflect the yellow light, resulting in a yellow appearance. Therefore, the conclusion is that a green cloth does not appear green in yellow light; it appears yellow instead.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of light spectrum and wavelengths
  • Knowledge of color theory, specifically primary and secondary colors
  • Familiarity with the concept of light reflection and absorption
  • Basic principles of optics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the physics of light and color perception
  • Explore the concept of color mixing in different light sources
  • Learn about the properties of materials and their interaction with light
  • Investigate the effects of colored lighting on various surfaces
USEFUL FOR

Students of physics, artists working with color, educators teaching optics, and anyone interested in the science of light and color perception.

Basically I wanted to teach myself about light and I have a question that i am not to sure about
basically I know about the spectrum of light but I also know that two primary colours make a secondary color.

yellow is either is own wavelength or its a mixture of green and red, so here's my questions

What color would a green cloth appear in yellow light.

I know its either green or black but i am not sure which

What do you mean "a green cloth"? You mean when illuminated with white light the cloth appears green?

A green cloth reflects both blue and yellow light, so if you shine "yellow light" on it (ie light where all other wavelengths have been removed, including blue obviously) the cloth would only reflect yellow light and thus appear yellow.
