What does Q = Ay mean in shear stress calculations?

or the y bar means distance from centroid of an area to extreme fibre ?
In your calculation , it's y-bar = (d/2 + y) / 2
So , you are taking the extreme fiber as the fiber at the bottom plane ? Why not upper plane ?
