What is it like to be a science nerd in the R&D field?

My educational background is in physics although I have spent a career in R&D departments developing new products, mostly in the high tech sector. My daughter tells her friends that I am a science nerd.

Hello fellow Physics enthusiasts, I am an aeronautical engineering graduate (Bachelor's) who is interested in Physics and Mathematics, and I have been re-learning all the basics.
