True age ??
I know that I'm pretty damned old in dog years, but at least I haven't been fixed yet. (The ex-from-hell's intentions notwithstanding.)

Yep, I'm thinking Danger is definitely tribdog's Canadian counterpart!

There's a one per nation limit, right??

There better be! You don't want too many of them living too close together; it could be catastrophic!

If you take a few of us [names not mentioned], add the ages and divide by n, we're already dead.

Unless you let n approach infinity, then none of us have been born yet!

Stoned, I like to say the following:

I am as old as the cosmos and as young as the moment. This strange metastable triple point phase state is temporary, so enjoy the ride for what it's worth!

haha. in most of Canada the age is 19, but the french made an exception and dropped it a year. 19's also the age where you can legally buy cigarettes

but hey, you guys get to drive about a 8-12 months b4 us. at 16 we can get our training license, and then if we do driving school we can get our full license (well we have graduated licensing. so the first one is your G1, second is G2, then final is G) in 8 months, if not you have to wait till your 17. then another year before the G. The G1 and G2 expire after a certain amount of time, but the G is for life i think...i don't know for sure. G1 you can't drive without someone who's had their license for 4 years in the front passenger seat, and can't drive on a 400 series highway without a driving instructor. G2 you can drive by yourself, but can't have more people than you have seatbelts for, and can't drive out of teh country. With G you can drive out of teh country, and for us country folk that also means you can drive people in the back of your truck lol.

Haha Canada is so funny...all these crazy rules and restrictions! but if i ever wanted to go to a strip club or smoke weed (which i hope i never do), i'll just go to Canada.

the driving rules here are less strict, but i know so many of my friends who are careless drivers and they get into accidents and stuff...i try to be safe, and i haven't gotten a ticket in over a year of (legal) driving.

  • #24
lol! strip clubs I am pretty sure are 19, Quebec is 18, porn in ontario is 18 haha so strip clubs may be as well. and as for weed, its no longer slightly legalized anymore. although I am sure eventually it will be legal...the economic potential is just far too great.

  • #25
lol, the economic potential is too great--haha! here too porn is 18, but I'm pretty sure strip clubs are 21, but i could be wrong.

Hehe, for our high school senior year class trip we went to Canada and all the parents needed to sign forms stating that they realized their kids who'd already turned 18 could do things they otherwise couldn't do in the US. Fun times...
I am, for the record, nineteen years old plus a few odd days and months.

  • #27
I'm probably one of the youngest here - 16.

  • #28
lol the economic potential thing..seriously. i know more ppl who toke up than who smoke cigarettes. and its worth more than tabacco by far.

Jezzzus ! I'm to old to be here with you kids. I'm 38

Our laws vary from state to state for driving. I currently live in a state where they set 16 yr-olds loose on the roads (so did MI), and they are far too young to be responsible drivers. I grew up in NJ, and there, you could get a learning permit at 16 that sounds very much like the same restrictions you have in Canada on a G1 license...you have to first pass the written test on rules of the road, must be with someone who has held a license over 3 or 4 years (can't remember anymore) and that person had to be over 25, and you couldn't drive after dark. When you turn 17, you can take the driving test to get your full license. Even when you get the full license, in the first 3 years, the penalties can be bit higher for some offenses (I think a court appearance was mandatory if you got a ticket, where someone with more experience can just mail in the fee).

As for the lower drinking age in Canada, yeah, that's an issue in MI. The college students drive to Windsor (just across the border from Detroit) to drink and then drive back. I'm sure there are a few too many drunk drivers on the road when they are driving so far to get alcohol.

Indeed. I refuse to drive for a few more years, after seeing what kind of havoc takes place on the road. I'd consider myself a responsible driver, but I don't have the need to drive, yet. Thankfully, the campus I'm on is relatively small.

In PA you could get your permit when 16 then after six months of having your permit your liscence. I got my permit before my twin brother but he was more persistent about getting his liscence and then after that my mom decreed that she wasn't paying extra insurance so I couldn't get mine. Excessively annoying but I think my brother was in three minor accidents until I finally got around to getting mine, whereas I've yet to be in one. *shrug*

It's really crazy how most kids drive in my school. Right when school ends, there's a race to the parking lot, and everyone revs their engine and drives about 40 mph in the parking lot while honking their horns...and i just wonder why?

There's pretty much an accident every day in our parking lot, and with 2000 kids to a school, you pretty much have to wait about 30 minutes until its "safe" to drive out...lol i just wait because i have track practice...it's not worth risking my insurance costs hitting the sky.

Because they're crazy MI drivers! When I'd be on the interstates, it seemed there was a simple rule to what speed people drove...if they were in front of me, they drove 40 mph, and if they were behind me, they wanted to drive 90 mph. What I really couldn't understand was having the speed limit 10 or 15 mph lower for trucks than for cars, but then not requiring trucks to stay in the right lane, so instead they'd be pacing each other side by side at the lower speed limit while no car could pass. Actually, both MI and OH drivers seem to have entirely missed the concept of staying to the right if you're driving slow and moving to the left to pass.

lol, believe me, it's seems like that for everyone...people tail me when I'm doing 55 on a 45, and then i get people in front of me who do 35-40 on the same road...

my 5 mile drive to school is frustrating enough at 6:30 am  , glad i don't have to deal with the highways and all those annoying trucks!

At the beginning I used to imagine the majority of members like old men with grey hair. Physicists!
But young people tend to be more productive and creative, I believe.

47, old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway. :-p

Agreed. I am the only one who obeys the 5 mph speed limit in the parking lot, and I have great fun looking at everyone tailgating me from behind. I also am the only one turning on my turn signal when going into a parking space.

Another good use for track practice . I know the feeling, its not safe to drive out of the parking lot until 20 minutes have passed.

As for my age, currently 17.5833 (margin of error +- 0.0166) per this month/beginning of next month.

And they say there's no security issues with our borders... In the other poll I would have to admit to 30+ and it's probably best if Danger (Austin Powers middle name?) is slowing from arthritis, etc. :-p

As for Moonbear and Hypatia, you both look quite young, but if you are older than you look, that would help explain your immense wisdom.

Perhaps you are, but if you're in California (as a couple of your comments indicated), the advantage is mine. Chasing you across a beach, I'm sure that my Canadian Special ski-equipped machine will be far more efficient than your land-of-the-sun wheeled unit.
