What is the Elastic Limit Measurement Unit?

SUMMARY

The elastic limit is measured in two distinct ways: when expressed in terms of maximum stress, it is quantified in Newtons per square meter (N/m²) or Pascals (Pa). Conversely, when described in terms of maximum strain, the measurement is unit-less. Understanding these units is crucial for accurately interpreting material properties in engineering and physics.

PREREQUISITES
  • Knowledge of material science concepts
  • Understanding of stress and strain definitions
  • Familiarity with units of measurement in physics
  • Basic principles of elasticity
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the relationship between stress and strain in materials
  • Explore the concept of Young's modulus and its applications
  • Learn about different types of materials and their elastic limits
  • Investigate the significance of elastic limit in engineering design
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, material scientists, and students studying physics or engineering principles will benefit from this discussion, particularly those focused on material properties and elasticity.

Hello guys , have a question and I can not find the answer.
In what units is measured elastic limit ?

Thanks A lot !

If it is given in terms of maximum stress, it will be N/m^2 or Pa.
If is in terms on maximum strain, will be unit-less.
