What is the most efficient language for numerical computing and data analysis?

I am John. I live in Fairfield, CA. I graduated from CSUS with a BSEEE in 1990. Spouse was in a major motor vehicle accident in '89, so that program got wrapped up quickly. I graduated with an MBA from CSUEB, formally CSUH, in 2005. I managed to squeeze in a certificate in applied stats, which was the most fun of the entire program, and a bunch of psych. Got into the econ program at CSUS in about '08. When the economy tanked, actually unemployment rose at the end of the recession, I was a couple of semesters into the grad program. I feel blessed to have had those opportunities at formal education. There is no substitute for it. It is simply not possible to achieve that depth of understanding otherwise.

In my spare time, I am learning R, applying it to any opportunity at analyzing economic and climate data. I'm not going to win any awards. But I can separate the brilliance from the bullshit, and that's good enough for me.

Checkout Julia, its another language that does numerical computing similar to R but in some cases orders of magnitude faster.

Hello fellow Physics enthusiasts, I am an aeronautical engineering graduate (Bachelor's) who is interested in Physics and Mathematics, and I have been re-learning all the basics.
