What is the purpose of registering as a new member on a scientific platform?

I must admit initially I registered in order to ask a question. I am a lay person, retired, and my work history did not involve physics. (And I'm sure someone will point out that EVERYTHING involves physics . . .)

Hello fellow Physics enthusiasts, I am an aeronautical engineering graduate (Bachelor's) who is interested in Physics and Mathematics, and I have been re-learning all the basics.
