What is the Role of Physics in Aerospace Engineering?

I just registered on this site. I'm sure I was previously registered on it but I think I must have been culled because I haven't posted in a while.

I graduated with an Hons Degree in Physics from Manchester University.

I work in the Aerospace industry as a control engineer designing flight control systems software for military aircraft. Although I don't put the physics side to much use nowadays I maintain a keen interest in the subject.
