What materials are best for infrared imager tripod legs?

I am an undergrad student studying mechanical engineering at the University of Malta. Stumbled across this forum whilst doing some research & decided to sign up! For anyone that can post suggestions I'm carrying out a material selection exercise for the legs of an infrared imager tripod :)
