Who is Mal and What is Basic Electronics?

Hi I'm Mal
I am a 63 year old newbee. I'm my second year of a basic electronics and I do mean basic!
I would be more than grateful for any help I can get. I was so eager I posted a question before introducing myself(sorry). I am nowhere near the standard of yourselves but at least I know what resistors are for now! Again HELP!

Hello fellow Physics enthusiasts, I am an aeronautical engineering graduate (Bachelor's) who is interested in Physics and Mathematics, and I have been re-learning all the basics.
