why electromagnetic wave is transverse?

Physics news on Phys.org
becoz electric and magnetic field ossilate perpendicular to the direction of propagation:D

In free space, the electric and magnetic fields are both transverse waves. But in matter, electromagnetic waves aren't always completely transverse.
