Why is my computer sound suddenly not working properly?

As of yesterday, I can barely hear youtube videos, they are staticy and low volume, it's not my speakers, since CD's and DVD's sound fine. What could be causing this?

No and No. That's what's weird. Bandwidth is fine also.

I don't think it's youTube becuse it's working fine for me.

It seems to be listening to anything online.

But my bandwidth is fine. What could be causing it? There is a lot of static.

Can you tell if the problem is only with Flash files? I believe the youtube videos are all .swf files. Maybe it's a Flash player problem. Just a wild guess.

Could be. I'll do some checking tomorrow. I have a call into COMPUTER MAN. If he can't figure it out, no one can.

It could be a bad audio pre-amp.

Probably a software problem if everything else runs at normal volume. Check the net for patches. An incompatible [older] sound card is also a candidate issue.

Like MIH indicated, I'd go with a problem reading a Flash file or perhaps the codec for processing the audio portion. What about MP3's or other protocols?

Possibly one can download a fix or update.

if you are using quicktime (or whatever)--just, do an uninstall/re-install

Hopefully, COMPUTER MAN is going to diagnose and fix me. At least he has fixed some very weird problems for me in the past. I'm waiting for him to wake up and call me.

Yay, it's fixed! I just kept playing with settings until - it fixed itself!

COMPUTER MAN is in trouble for being late, he blames me for having gone to bed too early last night.
