I want to erase the data in a USB, without actually messing up the circuitry of the device, using magnets. What would be an ideal approach ??

Sorry for the typo, I meant a flash drive. I want to remove the data from the drive( which definitely could be done using a PC) using magnetic field, as I have read about magnetic fields destroying data stored in electronic devices.

The magnetic approach works by using a strong magnet to scramble the data stored on the USB drive. This makes it unreadable and effectively erases the data.
It can be an effective method, but it is not foolproof. Some data recovery techniques may still be able to retrieve the data. It is always best to use multiple methods, such as overwriting the data multiple times, to ensure complete erasure.
No, only strong magnets with a high magnetic field, such as neodymium magnets, are effective for erasing USB data. Regular household magnets are not strong enough.
Yes, there is a risk of damaging the drive, especially if the magnet is too strong or if it is moved too close to the drive. It is important to use caution and follow proper guidelines when using magnets for erasing data.
No, this method may not work for all types of USB drives. Some drives have built-in magnetic shielding that can prevent the data from being erased by magnets. It is best to check with the manufacturer or test the method on a small amount of data first.
