its taken a while but I am now up and running with my new computer
with suse 9.1, the bigest problem was connecting to the net, the
easy way out was to use a router.
it seems not many SPs support linux, and are not very helpful when
asked for settings, so if anyone wants to use suse it will be best to
gather all the settings while a net connection is still possible as
without it its a nightmare.

Congratulations on getting your new computer up and running with SUSE 9.1! It can definitely be a bit of a learning curve when switching to a new operating system, but it sounds like you were able to overcome the challenges and find a solution.

It's unfortunate to hear that many service providers do not support Linux and are not very helpful with providing settings. It's always a good idea to gather all necessary settings while you still have a working internet connection, as you mentioned, to avoid any potential headaches later on.

Thank you for sharing your experience and advice with others who may be considering using SUSE. Best of luck with your new computer!
