Artistic or CG astronomy images

In summary, the conversation discusses starting a thread for posting artistic or computer generated images of planets and stars, with a focus on artistic merit rather than realism. It is noted to avoid any copyright infringements and to link to images if unsure. Some examples of images from Wikipedia and other sources are shared, and a request is made to resize images to a maximum of 650 x 490 pixels. A previous thread on the topic is mentioned, but it is suggested to start a new one for astronomy images.

I would like to start a thread where we can post artistic or computer generated images of planets, stars, etc. This is mainly for artistic merit and not neccesarily realism in the photos. If you want, you can also post real astronomy images.
Be sure to not break any copyrights. If you are unsure, you can post a link to the page instead of putting the image here on PF.
Wikipedia images generally use licences that make them okay to distribute.

Awesome artistic illustration from Wikipedia's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_planet" page.

Please resize your photos to be no larger than 650 x 490 pixels. We already have a similar thread.

Sorry.
Where is the other thread? It might just be better to merge them.

https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=106621 But it's old. I think a new thread for astronomy images is fine. Just keep them the right size so they don't distort the forum.
