In summary, there is currently a physics competition called PLANCKS with participating countries and opportunities for students to receive funding. The U.S. has not yet participated, but the organizing committee is actively promoting the competition and hopes to reach more students in the future. A U.S. team was unable to participate due to lack of funding, but there is potential for future participation and hosting. The conversation concludes with the suggestion to spread the word about this opportunity.

Countries currently participating, it seems like a great opportunity and I'm sure some top universities from the states could fund students to go.(who would love to go also)

They didn't participate last year either.

They got back to me really fast like within hours

"I think the reason why the U.S. is not (yet) participating in PLANCKS is because the competition is not well-known in the States. As PLANCKS 2015 is only the second edition of PLANCKS the promotion is still going on with the hope to reach all the physics students in the world. We did however get in contact with some U.S students and a team registered for PLANCKS 2015. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding they weren't able to participate.
I hope in the future U.S. teams get enough funding and will be able to participate and/or host PLANCKS.

Best Regards,
On behalf of the organizing committee of PLANCKS 2015,
Irene Haasnoot
President"

I guess the word needs to get out more on this great opportunity

1. Why doesn't the U.S participate in the PLANCKS contest?

The U.S has not participated in the PLANCKS (Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kickass Students) competition due to various reasons. One of the main reasons is that the U.S already has well-established and highly competitive physics competitions, such as the International Physics Olympiad, that attract top students and teams. As a result, there may not be much incentive for U.S teams to participate in PLANCKS.

2. Is the U.S not allowed to participate in the PLANCKS contest?

No, the U.S is not restricted from participating in the PLANCKS contest. The competition is open to all physics students from universities in participating countries. However, it is ultimately up to individual teams and universities to decide whether they want to take part in the competition.

3. Are there any plans for the U.S to join the PLANCKS contest in the future?

Currently, there are no official plans for the U.S to join the PLANCKS contest. However, this could change in the future if there is more interest and support from U.S universities and students. Some U.S teams have expressed interest in participating in the competition, so there may be a possibility of seeing U.S representation in PLANCKS in the future.

4. Are there any benefits for the U.S to participate in the PLANCKS contest?

Participating in the PLANCKS contest could bring several benefits to the U.S, such as promoting international collaboration and networking among physics students from different countries. It can also provide an opportunity for U.S students to test their knowledge and skills against top students from other countries and gain valuable experience in a different competition setting.

5. How can U.S students get involved in the PLANCKS contest?

U.S students who are interested in participating in the PLANCKS contest can reach out to their university's physics department to inquire about forming a team and registering for the competition. They can also follow the official PLANCKS website and social media pages for updates and announcements regarding participation and registration. Additionally, they can reach out to other universities in participating countries to join their teams as international collaborators.
