Find the equation of the tangent at the given point
Its ok, I got to ask at school about this question, I was shown how the chain rule was used (I haven't used it much tbh), so I now understand this question. A mod can now close this thread if needed.- Aske

Find the equation of the tangent at the given point
So with the chain rule I should get u= 2x+1, and then to get my y value sub x into the original function? Sorry if it seems like I don't get this at all, I really don't much.- Aske

Find the equation of the tangent at the given point
First, yes I did try the derivative (which was y'= -x/ (√ 2x+1)^2 , if someone can verify that'd be great I used the quotient rule) , do I sub in my x value into that derivative? Still though, I wouldn't have my y value. I've given you all the information the question gives. Sorry I'm confused...- Aske

Find the equation of the tangent at the given point
Homework Statement For each function, find the equation of the tangent at the given point a) f(x)= 1/ squareroot(2x+1) at x=4 The Attempt at a Solution I'm fairly lost, I understand I'm looking for an equation of a tangent, but I don't understand where to begin, find the derivative...- Aske

Find which value of x horizontal Tangent Line
So, that means the left side is euqal to zero, or is every where (including left side) that is f '(x) is equal to zero. Or, am I looking for the derivative, but anywhere in the formula I see that has f ' (x) is simply zero. Thanks in advance.- Aske

Find which value of x horizontal Tangent Line
Find which value of x...horizontal Tangent Line Homework Statement What is given is F(x)= -4/(x-3)(x+4) and the problem asks for to find the value of x where f(x) has a horizontal tangent line.Homework Equations I read somewhere else on these forms that using the quotient rule is the key, and...- Aske

Help with finding parallel vectors
Ok, trying this with the perpendicular qustion it'd be "(2i+mj-10k) . (i-3j+nk)=0". I would have 2 unknowns, how would I solve this. I still don't know how to go about the parallel question.- Aske

I somewhat understand what you are saying, so are you saying I need to isolate the unknowns? I still don't fully understand this.- Aske

Help with finding parallel vectors
Homework Statement The question states "let u= 2i+mj-10k and v=i-3j+nk, find the value of n and m such that u,v are parallel", the second part states asks the same but "u,v are perpendicular" Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I attempted to use a dot product solution I...- Aske
