Undergrad Indefinite number of neutrons?
I have a very basic question regarding the nucleus. I understand why you can only have a limited number of protons within the nucleus - more and more protons within the nucleus will increase the coulomb potential and cause the nucleus to be unstable. But why is this so for neutrons? Why...- bemigh

How to Find the Probability of a Mass in Oscillatory Motion?
A Mass is oscillating on a spring, with a normal equation of motion being: x(t) = xmax sin(wt) Were also given that the energy equation is E = 0.5mv^2 + 0.5mw^2 x^2 Now, we need to find the probability P(x,deltax) of finding the mass in a small region of size delta x. I really have no idea...- bemigh

Taylor Expansion for Gravitational Acceleration Problem
Hey Everyone. I'm ALMOST finished this problem... To spare you the long story, I need to take the difference between an gravitational acceleration, and the same gravitational acceleration at a slightly larger height. The two functions are a(r) and a(r+d), where d is very small Now... VERY...- bemigh

Diagonalization of a matrix with repeated eigenvalues
Ok, well... i would get an eigenvalue of 1, with a multiplicity of 3. Alright, so when solving for my eigenvalues, by plugging 1 into my matrix A-(lamda)I ; i would just be left with 0's. How can i get eigenvalues from this?? I appreciate your help by the way...- bemigh

Proving Orbit Derivation in External Gravitational Field
Hey everyone, I need to prove something explictly, problem is, i don't know where to start. In orbits, we can show that the motion of 2 bodies interacting with each other only by central forces can be reduced to a an equivalent one-body problem. This is by using a Lagrangian, and by...- bemigh

Understanding Heat Flow Between Concentric Cylinders
Hey everyone... I think I am not picking up on something here... The rate of heat flow across a slab is: P = (k*A*T)/D where k is the thermal conductivity of the medium, A is the cross sectional medium and T is the temperature...- bemigh
