Determine the velocity of the two blocks right after the collision
I'm really messing up my math here or something... KEi = KEf 1/2(1.5)(10)^2 + 0 = 1/2(1.5)(V1)^2 + 1/2(6)(V2)^2 75 = 0.75(-6V2+15/1.5)^2 + 3V2^2 75 = 0.75(-4V2+10)^2 + 9V2 75 = 0.75(16V2+100) + 9V2 75 = 12V2 + 75 + 9V2 75 = 21V2 + 75 0 = 21V2 ...? zero again... blehhh!- cupcaked

Determine the velocity of the two blocks right after the collision
Here's a (crude) drawing: http://i44.tinypic.com/2mg9ts2.png A block with mass 1.5kg is pushed against a spring such that the spring compression is 0.2m. The block is then released from rest and is observed to have a velocity of 10m/s once it is released by the spring. The block then collides...- cupcaked

Block dropped onto vertical spring, finding work/speed/height
I need some help with this problem, to check if my answers and formulas are right/how to solve the last parts... A 0.25kg block is dropped onto a vertical spring with spring constant k= 250 N/m. The block becomes attached to the spring and the spring compresses 0.12m before coming momentarily...- cupcaked

Two masses attached by inextensible string?
Yay! Okay so b) Vf^2 = 0+(2*3.266*0.6) Vf^2 = 3.91 Vf = 1.97 m/s^2 And for part (c)... I separated the x component and y compenent of the motion into separate charts, though I completely failed the 2d motion test so if my work can be checked/corrected, I'd appreciate it! here's my...- cupcaked

Two masses attached by inextensible string?
Homework Statement okay this is probably extremely basic stuff but I'm having a lot of trouble in this class and i hope someone can help! :/ A 10 kg mass is placed on a fricitonless surface and is attached to a 5 kg mass as shown by a light and inextensible string. ( here is a drawing of...- cupcaked
