Understanding the Components of Energy in Fluid Mechanics

Why does Emec= P/\rho + v^2/2 + gz ? The units resulting from the three expressions are m^2/s^2 but unit for energy is supposed to be Joules? where does the mass go? If the three expressions were already divided by the mass then why Emec still remains as Emec?

Plane and Line Equations for Points and Perpendicular Planes

I know that for 4x-y+2z=7 has normal vector (4,-1,2). I also know that 4x-y+2x=7 is perpendicular to the plane containing the P1 and P2, and thus the normal vector is parallel to the line P1P2. Therefore I should find P1P2 and cross with the normal vector (4,-1,2) and get a normal to the plane...

Plane and Line Equations for Points and Perpendicular Planes

I've encountered this question but I do not know how to solve it? Help anyone? I need some clues. Find a plane through the points P1 (1,2,3) and P2(3,2,1) and perpendicular to the plane 4x - y + 2z = 7 Another question, When given point A (1,2,3) and B (3,2,1) , I'm asked to find the line...

Stationary Points for Surface: Finding Local and Absolute Extrema

    I think it should be y[e^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)} - x^2e^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)}]= y(1- x^2) e^{-1/2(x^2+ y^2)}= 0 x[e^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)} - y^2e^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)}]= x(1- y^2)e^{-1/2(x^2+ y^2)}= 0

Stationary Points for Surface: Finding Local and Absolute Extrema

Find the stationary points for the surface. And find the local and absolute maxima or minima for the following function. \f(x,y)= xye^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)} Is there any stationary points for this surface? Let z = f(x,y) I found the \delta{z}/\delta{x} = y[e^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)} - x^2e^{-1/2(x^2+y^2)}]...

Can the Integration of 1/sin(x)e^(csc^2(x)) be Solved?

    I'm told that this integration can't be solved, can it ? ʃ dx/(sin (x) . exp((csc x)^2)

Understanding Cross Product: Moment, r and F

Say A,B and C are points on a plane. By taking the magnitude of the cross product of AB and BC gives you the area of the parallelogram. The direction of the answer will be perpendicular to both AB and BC, but what I don't understand is why we are getting the area? Is the area pointing in that...

How Do You Calculate Vectors and Areas in Geometry Problems?

i have no idea how to solve these 2 questions.. please direct me to the right way. 1. Find the vector from the origin to the center of mass of a thin triangular plate (uniform density) whose vertices are A(7, 7, 2), B(7, 4, 6), and C(4, 10, 1). 2. Find the area of the parallelogram determined...

    Resolved shear stress(rss) problem

Can anyone tell me how to find the angle between tensile force and slip direction under these conditions:- 1. Tensile force is applied along [010] direction for a single crystal of iron(BCC). 2. rss is directed along (110) plane and in a [-111] direction when tensile stress of 52 MPa is...
