Centroid of a right angle triangle
Hi i have a right angle tringle, base=1200m and h=400. I have trouble understanding on how to determine the centroid i know one side will be 2/3*x and another side would be 1/3*y. But i don't understand how to write it out. A friend said its 1/3*1200*400*2/3*1200, but i have no idea and...- D0m

Method of Sections: Solving Truss Moment & Force Equations
Hi guys I am having trouble taking the moment after i cut the truss, the answear always seems to be off. I attached my work in the attachements. Can you check if my equations are right. for moment: Mom@c=0: (ACx2.2)+(18.72x2.2)+(24x2.2)=0, AC=42.7?? sum of all forces in x direction: Fx=0...- D0m

Stress and Strain (Finding the thickness of truss members)
Hi guys i have a exam coming up soon and stress is starting to kick in. I am good with stress and strain, but I am just confused on this question and don't understand what i need to be doing. I've tried every formula and i just can't seem to get question 5 out. The answears for this question is...- D0m

Stress & Strain (Finding diameter, extention & thickness)
Hi yep that's good thankyou, i had that before but i thought B=1500 but i thought it was to big. Do you have a suggestion on how to procede from here because this is the spot where I am actually stuck given that i did the same as you before.- D0m

Stress & Strain (Finding diameter, extention & thickness)
Thanks so much for taking your time to do that but I am now confused on how you take the moment. Will you have to use sin and cos- D0m

Stress & Strain (Finding diameter, extention & thickness)
Oooops the pivot is definitely not between them. Do i need to have a different value for where i have 3600 (-3600xRB)+(12000x250)=0- D0m

Yeah that's exerted at D, but wouldn't there be a different force B or (is it something to do with equillibrium)- D0m

Stress & Strain (Finding diameter, extention & thickness)
Im not sure mate, I've tried working it out by taking the moment of it like you would on a truss but i can't apply it correctly. Is this the right approach or am i way of track? (Or do i use stress/strain formulas and solve for P)- D0m
