Analyzing a Complex Structure for Statics Project
Knowing that the structure is in equilibrium, we want to analyze those balanced forces and show how they cause the structure to be in equilibrium . I think your suggestion of doing an analysis of whether or not the structure is balanced in the sense of weight distribution would be a good thing...- J0sh8830

Analyzing a Complex Structure for Statics Project
I am sorry, I should have been more clear in what we are looking for. We are supposed to look at it and analyze it as a structure in equilibrium. As you can see it is quite complex, but we are supposed to use equilibrium conditions and equations to analyze the sculpture. Thank you!- J0sh8830

Analyzing a Complex Structure for Statics Project
Hello everyone! I am not actually posting this discussion regarding a homework problem. But I wanted to get some ideas from you all about how to approach the analysis of a structure I am looking at for a Statics Project. The structure is very complex, and my project partner and I are trying...- J0sh8830

Statics: 3D Equilibrium Problem r X F or Fd?
In this particular case, by "better" I mean, which of the two approaches would be the most expedient in finding the solution to this problem? In problems like these, there is usually a number of approaches that can be taken to solve them. Sometimes I have used the cross product when it was...- J0sh8830

Statics: 3D Equilibrium Problem r X F or Fd?
Homework Statement The 25-kg rectangular access door is held in the 90° open position by the single prop CD. Determine the force F in the prop and the magnitude of the force normal to the hinge axis AB in each of the small hinges A and B.[/B] Homework Equations ΣF=0 ΣM=0 [/B]The Attempt at...- J0sh8830

Statics 2D Equilibrium Problem
Mr. Miller, Thank you so much for your reply. I was able to solve the problem with your hints. It was a lot easier than I first imagined. I was trying to use too much information when the center of mass of the system and its distance from O were much easier to solve for. Thank you! Josh- J0sh8830

Statics 2D Equilibrium Problem
Homework Statement This is a three step problem (I am not fond of the multi-step problems as I can usually do better without multiple steps. Here is the problem: A uniform ring of mass m = 10 kg and radius r = 195 mm carries an eccentric mass m0 = 18 kg at a radius b = 160 mm and is in an...- J0sh8830
