Why is Radial Acceleration Ignored for a Rotating Board?
Thanks for your response!, I think I understood part of what you said, but not everything... I'm still a bit confused. By ‘critical angle,’ do you mean a specific angle at which the board, when released from rest, will immediately start accelerating vertically faster than gravity? At such an...- momo1111

Why is Radial Acceleration Ignored for a Rotating Board?
The acceleration at the rod's end can be divided into radial and tangential components. However, I’m still unclear on why only the tangential component is considered when discussing vertical acceleration. Shouldn’t the radial component also contribute to the vertical direction? What am I missing?- momo1111

Why is Radial Acceleration Ignored for a Rotating Board?
Hey! In this setup, https://sciencedemonstrations.fas.harvard.edu/presentations/falling-faster-g ,a board rotating about a fixed axis under gravity, The board's angle θ is measured from the horizontal, Angular acceleration is given by α = MgRcosθ / I Then we're asked to find the acceleration of...- momo1111

What is the Average Power of Energy Loss for a Bouncing Ball?
How ? the ball bounce at some parabolic curve . the time of flight depends on the initial vertical velocity , v_{0y} . i know that |\vec v_0| =\sqrt{2gh} ,and that it . |v_{0y}| = ? .- momo1111

What is the Average Power of Energy Loss for a Bouncing Ball?
thanks :) ...mgH of course:) Q : So what is the average rate that energy is lost ? some scrawling ... if mgH is the energy lost per cycle ...and if at some point it was E_0 then after ... say 5 steps it become E_0 - 5 (mgH) ... so they ask me to find \frac{E_0-5(mgH)}{5} or...- momo1111
