The probability that a new drug will cure a skin rash is 0.82.
Homework Statement "The probability that a new drug will cure a skin rash is 0.82. if the drug is administered to 200 patients with the skin rash, find the probability that: a)more than 150 will be cured? b)between 170 and 180, inclusive will be cured? How Do You Calculate Acceleration and Speed in a Joy Ride Physics Problem?
After finishing the calculation i think there is still something wrong. If T2 = 50,6s then T1 = 31s Than to Calculate S1f we will say S1f = S1i + V1i + (1/2)(a)(T1^2) S1f = 2162.25 m (which makes no sense.. but still let's carry on) to Find Top speed (V1f) V1f2 = V1i2 + 2...- Mspike6

How Do You Calculate Acceleration and Speed in a Joy Ride Physics Problem?
V1f = V2i V1f = aT1 +V1i V1f = 4.50 ( 81.6 - T2) +0 V1f = 367.2 - 4.50 T2 Since V1f = V2i Therefor, S2f = S2i + (367.2 - 4.50 T2) (T2) S2f = 0 + 367.2 T2 - 4.50 T2 ^2 *Shouldn't S2i be equal to S1f ? but am takeing your word for it* S1 + S2 = 3840 (T22 -367.2 T2 +...- Mspike6

How Do You Calculate Acceleration and Speed in a Joy Ride Physics Problem?
I would say the same equation as before S2f = S2i + V2i (T2) +(1/2)(a)(T2)^2 S2f = S2i + V2i (T2) + 0 V2i = V1f Dead end . Is there a better formula to use ?- Mspike6

How Do You Calculate Acceleration and Speed in a Joy Ride Physics Problem?
First of all thank you for your replay. i understood what you mean, but i don't know how to actually do it (i have been tryiong since you replaied) i don't know how to "Find s1 (distance traveled when accelerating) in term of t1, then find also s2 (distance traveled with constant speed) in...- Mspike6

How Do You Calculate Acceleration and Speed in a Joy Ride Physics Problem?
Hey, i got this question in my first assignment in PHYS 109. i am sure the question is easy, but for some reason i can't get it around my head. Thanks for the help ! Homework Statement A physics 109 student is taking a car for a joy ride on a long, empty and perfectly straight...- Mspike6

Circle Transformations: Understanding and Applying the Process
Okay i pretty much understood all what you said . But there is one little thing that i don't understand yet ... I have to Limits for the graph, -4.5 and -5 ... which one do i use to calculate the standard deviation. For -4.5 SD is 0.20 For-5 it is -0.20 am sorry, but i had a long hard day...- Mspike6

Circle Transformations: Understanding and Applying the Process
am confused again Okay, Here is the formula i know Z= (x - \mu)/\sigma Where Z= I check forr 0.10 in the Z-score chart and it was 0.27 x= i thought it to be 0.80 because the question said (the probability of "80%" ) \mu = Mean = -4.75 \sigma = Standard Deviation, and that's...- Mspike6

Circle Transformations: Understanding and Applying the Process
Ahaaa, i got it now.. so, to cover 80% of the Curve, we will drop 10% from the right and 10 % from the left (we will take the middle 80%) , an It will be something like 0.27=(0.80-(-4.75))/X Where x is the standard Deviation. X= 1.50=Standard Deviation. Edit: Do i keep 80% in this form, or...- Mspike6

Circle Transformations: Understanding and Applying the Process
If you gave me The : - mean x - Standard deviation S - And a number. h ~The symbols are imaginary~ I can use (h-x)/s to get the Z score. and from the Z-score chart i can get the probability of you getting this number. But i couldn't work around this question.. the question...- Mspike6

Circle Transformations: Understanding and Applying the Process
Hey.. Am still working on this "project" and am stuck on number 6 on the 2nd page that i uploaded. am not sure how to calculate the standard deviation "that would allow 80%" i know that standard daviation is calculated by getting the mean, then subtracting the mean from the list of...- Mspike6

Minimum Electric Potential Difference Required to Bring Alpha Particle to Rest
Ok, i solved it but i hope i got it right this time! First: Conservation of momentum. Mv initial = mv Duaghter pa. +mv Alpha pa. mv Duaghter pa. =-mv Alpha pa (3.90*10-25)(-2.62 *105) = the momentum of the duaghter particle...the negative on the speed indicate that it was moving in...- Mspike6

Minimum Electric Potential Difference Required to Bring Alpha Particle to Rest
Ya, what you say makes perfect sense, i don't know how did i do sucha mistake.. okay let's say that i got Delta E, which is Work done, But then where do i go ? can i use V=E/Q to get V ? Thanks a lot mate, really appreciated. :P- Mspike6
