Physics Physics Careers: Benefits, Opportunities, & Income
Thanks but that's a long thread and I'm not really in a mood to go through it all. Anyways, how about nuclear physics? Particle physics? Cosmology? Any thoughts? BTW, I have the exact same problem: my parents want to persuade me of becoming a medical doctor because it's more future-proof as...- Omar

Physics Physics Careers: Benefits, Opportunities, & Income
Peace guys, I'm seriously thinking of going for physics graduate studies but I'm a bit reluctant (in fact, very) on making that decision. I mean how good is it taking a doctorate in physics? Let's suppose I have a doctorate in physics then what employment oppurtunities am I valid for? How is...- Omar

Schools Canadian universities requirements
Thanks mate. Your post was really helpful, but I have still a few doubts though; does taking 8 O levels help reduce the no. of AS/A level subjects required to be opted for? I abide in the UAE & the maximum no. of A level subjects taught per one ed. year is 2 - or 4-5 AS levels. Which is better...- Omar

Schools Canadian universities requirements
I'm intending on applying to a medical Canadian university (most likely in Nova Scotia). I have 2 main questions: 1. I'm an IGCSE student, going to finish my IGCSE course this educational year (taking 8 subjects). I'm most likely opting for AS/A level standard but I'm not sure What subjects I...- Omar

Undergrad Einstein's Equation: Energy Changes & Mass - What Happens?
So you're saying when a particle moves (in vacuum and without gravity or any other force applying on it) it will just keep on moving straight forward? Let's say that a particle has a K.E. of 10 Joules; is this embodied by the continuous motion of the particle or does the the particle slows...- Omar

Undergrad Einstein's Equation: Energy Changes & Mass - What Happens?
According to Einstein’s equation “E = m c^2” an object that loses energy loses a VERY slight proportion of its mass. An object that, on the contrary, gains energy also gains a VERY slight increase in mass. Now, if an object (in space, or vacuum, say) moves or changes position, in general...- Omar

High School Energy: What is it and Is Matter Energy?
Well, a very basic definition of energy goes: ENERGY is the ability to do work. Very primitive to fellows like you who don't suffice with such simplicity. Physicists now believe everything around us is energy (correct me if I'm wrong, please) and matter is just huge density of energy, nothing else.- Omar

Graduate Is the Universe Finite or Infinite? A Poll on the Current Debate in Cosmology
I would say the universe is finite. Firstly, the big bang has it that total mass & energy of the universe started from a point of volume zero. A huge gravitational force might be holding all the galaxies together in an oval shape (IMO). Secondly, the proof that the universe is expanding means...- Omar

Graduate Wanting to know more about quantum mechanics
Thanks. Oh.. as for buying a book; I can't really find concentrate my effort on a totally new text as my teacher advised not to read 'too much' extras which are not included in my physics syllabus as it'll get me confused. IGCSE curriculum--so linear, you know.- Omar

Graduate Wanting to know more about quantum mechanics
Can anyone please post a link concerning Quantum Mechanics--explanation, introduction...etc? I'm really interested in it. I've read quite a little about it and I want to know more.- Omar

Graduate Light, Mass, and Black hole question
Seeing how it is assumed that almost 90 (not sure but it's something like that) percent of the mass of the universe is comprised of dark matter from which presumably black holes are made up of, I would think that black holes have that kind of gravitatinal force. Off-topic: I heard something...- Omar

High School Learn the Derivation of Motion Equations with Expert Guidance
Hello, I'm new to the forums. This is my first thread here. I just wanted help in knowing where the motion equations (s=ut+0.5at^2, and v^2=u^2+2as) are derived from? Thanks in advance..
