    So the equation would be int( mgh dh) from zero to h ?

    Conservation of Mechanical energy

    1.A chain on top of a table is stretched out in a straight line perpendicular to the table's edge with one fourth of its length L hanging over the side. How much work is required to pull the hanging section of the chain back into the table. (hint: divide the hanging part into segments of length...

    Solving for v, we getv=\sqrt{\frac{2}{m}\int_{x_1} ^{x_2} F dx}

    1. A 2 kg book is at rest on a flat frictionless surface at initial position xi=0. A force F= (2.5-x2) is applied on the book. What is the Kinetic Energy of the block as it passes through x=2 m ? 2. W= Int ( force ) ; K= (1/2)mv2 ; W = K1 - K2 [b]3. So I started out with finding...

    Friction proportional to velovity. Help please

    why didnt i think of that earlier. so dv/dt= -70v divide both sides by v. then integrate one side in terms of dv and the other side in terms of t . Thanks for the guidance !

    Friction proportional to velovity. Help please

    yeah i think there exists only a friction force. so the sum of forces would be : -f=ma but the problem is the acceleration is not constant because the f is not constant

    Velocity-Friction proportionality.

    Thank you so much ! makes perfect sense now !

    Friction proportional to velovity. Help please

    yes i know how to integrate but I am not quiet sure how to develop the integration. what should the variable be ?

    Velocity-Friction proportionality.

    1. A 1000kg boat is traveling across a lake when its engine is shut off. The magnitude of the frictional force between the water and the boat is proportional to the boat's speed (proportionality constant is 70) . Find the time it takes the boat to slow to one half its speed when the engine was...
