Physics Find Biophysics Programs & Realistic Assessments of Admission Chances
I don't really have a great way of distinguishing them besides looking at professors/groups within the schools. And while I could spend a few days researching, say, 10 professors at each school for 10 minutes each, it would take upwards of ten hours and definitely not be a complete list. Some...- thelaxiankey

Physics Find Biophysics Programs & Realistic Assessments of Admission Chances
Hey y'all, I posted here a while back, but here goes. I'm looking for biophysics schools/labs with realistic assessments of how likely it is I'll get in. Also looking for forums to post to besides this one :) Summary: Senior undergraduate at UIUC, dual degree in Physics, CS + Math. 3.7 GPA...- thelaxiankey

Undergrad Strange formulation of Gauss' Theorem
It looks good to me; the integral is called a Gaussian integral and if you evaluate it, you get the right answer. I'm wondering where you saw it formulated like this?- thelaxiankey

Programs Experimental physics, applied math, or both?
Hey all, So I'm about to be a senior at a US school, and likely want to do grad school. I'm posting here because my interests are really sort of disparate and don't really share a theme. I like dynamics, stat mech, doing stuff on computers, and doing stuff with my hands... Anyway, here's a...- thelaxiankey

Undergrad Partition Function Derivation: Where Did I Go Wrong?
Self-repost from physics.SE; I underestimated how dead it was. So this follows Schroeder's Intro to Thermal Physics equations 6.1-6.7, but the question isn't book specific. Please let me be clear: I know for a fact I'm wrong. However, it feels like performing seemingly allowed manipulations, I...- thelaxiankey
