High School Electric field inside conductor?
But don't the charges (electrons) inside the conductor repel; thus redistribute?- wangdang

High School Electric field inside conductor?
High school physics is wrong yet again :( I am not sure I quite understand you though. Since there is free charge inside a conductor, wouldn't it redistribute to achieve equilibrium. Why must a charge first be brought near the conductor?- wangdang

High School Electric field inside conductor?
Hi all, I need some help understanding why exactly there is no electric field inside any conductor (charged or uncharged). I am in year 12, and I would like to understand the reasoning behind it in terms of the MOTION OF CHARGES in the conductor. What I know so far: - Charges (electrons)...- wangdang

Undergrad Electric Field and Coulombic Force: Effect of Halving Electrical Permittivity
Hi, I was just wondering if you had an electric field which had the coulombic force acting on the two charges as: F1= (1/4πε)*(q1q2/d2) Then what would happen to the force if you placed the charges in a medium of half the electrical permittivity? I tried to solve this using ratios and got...- wangdang

High School Electrical resistance questions
Hi Andrew, Thanks for the reply. I am having some difficulty deriving the equation R = pL/A, which relates length, resistivity and cross sectional area to resistance. I have established that: R [FONT="Times New Roman"]α L R [FONT="Times New Roman"]α p (rho) R [FONT="Times New Roman"]α 1/A...- wangdang

High School Electrical resistance questions
Hi all, I have a few questions on the factors that affect electrical resistance. First off, here is my definition of electrical resistance: "The electrical resistance of a wire refers to the measure of the wire’s “opposition” to the free flow of electricity. " Now, I would like to know...- wangdang

High School What would happen if you fell into a black hole?
What would happen if you "fell" into a black hole? Hi guys, I ask this question partly because I am curious, but also because I am studying gravitational fields and forces at school currently. So what would happen to your body if you were to "fall" head first into a black hole?- wangdang

High School Acceleration due to Gravity - Newton's 2nd?
Thanks very much for the replies, D H, I am not sure what you mean by 'relative acceleration'. Is that the overall acceleration of the 'system'? Could you also please explain your derivations? I understand that: F = G (Mm/R^2) is the force in which both masses experience. Then... -

High School Acceleration due to Gravity - Newton's 2nd?
Hi folks, I know this topic has been discussed countless times before but I could not find an answer to my specific query. I am struggling to understand why acceleration due to gravity is constant for all masses on Earth. Newton's 2nd law says that the acceleration of a body is prop. to...
