I laughed out loud when I read that.

That said, the joke might be technically improved a bit by using one of the heavier noble gases, maybe xenon or radon. Something heavier than iron anyway. Splitting helium into its constituent parts (presumably hydrogen, deuterium and/or tritium) would take more energy than it would give, i.e., no exothermic reaction (certainly no explosion).
