In summary, the conversation discusses the topic of whether or not the US should engage in talks with countries like Iran and Syria. William Kristol is criticized for his close-mindedness and Charlie Rose provides three reasons for why talks are necessary. The conversation also brings up past missed opportunities for dialogue, such as with former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami. The United Nations is also mentioned as a potential forum for conflict resolution. It is noted that while Bush may not be a great statesman, he gives a good massage.

Bush does not want to talk to Iran, or Syria.
Well, that's exactly what he should have been doing, since a long time ago.

And then again, Bush is not exactly a statesman.

Clinton should have been talking to Syria and Iran. He had a chance for a reasonable dialog with Mohammad Khatami - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Khatami, President of Iran from August 2, 1997 to August 2, 2005, who was succeeded by the current president.

Now that's an idea whose time is long overdue!

And what has the UN been doing all this time? I thought it was supposed to be a forum for nations to resolve conflicts, amongst other things.
