Hello,
I am trying to write the transfer matrix for surface with an s-polarized em wave incident on it. I want to look at the case of total internal reflection- but I don't know if it makes any sense to look at the transfer matrix in that case, since there is no transfer across the boundary...
Determine the change in internal energy of 1 kg of water at 100 degrees C when it is fully boiled. Once boiled this volume of water changes to 1671 Liters of steam at 100 degrees C Assume the pressure remains constantat 1 atm
things i know
1 L =1E-3 m3
1atm = 1.013E5 N/m2
1 L = 1000 cm3 =...
Seem to have ran into a brick wall with this problem

If anyone could provide some insight into how I might go about solving this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Q: A ray enters the flat end of a long rectanglular block of glass that has refractive index n_2 as shown in the following figure. Show that all the entering rays can be...
The drawing shows an optical fiber that consists of a core made of flint glass (nflint = 1.667) surrounded by a cladding made of crown glass (ncrown = 1.523). A beam of light enters the fiber from air at an angle q 1 with respect to the normal. What is q 1 if the light strikes the core-cladding...
"glass" is a solid material with an amorphous internal structure.

So does it imply that if I have 1kg egg shell, and I heat it to 2000 F and cool it immediately before the atoms arrange themselves regularly again, then I can...
