Hey all. Looks like my 15 year anniversary of joining PF happened yesterday (while my internet was down). Just wanted to say thanks to everyone, staff and non-staff, for helping make PF such a wonderful community over the years. Here's to everyone at PF, current, past, or future. Cheers!

I apparently passed my 15 year PF anniversary earlier this year, but only noticed just now thanks to this post

Anyway, I too salute PF, past, present and future, hoping it will thrive as a place for people able to have sane and productive technical discussions and guidance.

I had to look it up, how long I've been here. Not even close to 15 years. But I also noticed I have a "follower". What does that mean? It seems kind of creepy.

I think they get a notification when you post something. I have quite a lot, most of whom haven't been seen in years and I mostly assume they clocked the follow button by accident.

I thought you joined about when I did. But this is 22 for me. Course I haven't been active for 12 years; except to drop by once in awhile to exchange jokes and photos.

Not exactly. I Follow a number of new users, and I can see their recent activity by looking at What's New>Your News Feed. I don't get any automatic notifications for users I Follow.

I just realized I only miss a little year for that milestone! Not that it has any earth-shattering consequences, I was just surprised. Where did that time go?

EDIT: Just realized that if there ever was an apt place to make an edit this was it. Posted this at the end:

"Hah. Seems I already passed this milestone the 7. of March 2024!"

It's been 21 years for me.
I'm glad I found PF because the signal-to-noise ratio on sci.physics.relativity was terrible.

I'd imagine. I gave up on discussion groups many years ago. But hey, if you want a p.... enlargement pill or a quick Corona fix....

17 years in less than a month. Not very active lately. Getting older I suppose. But still one of the first things I do in the morning is go on PF to see the new postings. Before/(instead of) looking into the news feed. Better incentive to start a new day than the news. Never depressing.

Today I'm celebrating my 10th PF Anniversary. This is the best physics forum I've ever seen or been a part of. I'm grateful for the participation of so many knowledgeable experts as well as the contributions from interested laymen and students asking questions. And the rules about preventing personal theories make for focused discussions that avoid crackpot noise.

I can't believe it took me until 2015 to find this place. I started out on Fidonet in 1994, then went to sci.physics. But all that died away or filled with noise so there was a period of several years where I couldn't find a good forum. I just don't understand why I never stumbled upon PF until 2015.

But I'm glad I did.
