A concise book on basic chemistry

In summary, the conversation discussed the speaker's search for a concise book on chemistry that is under or equal to 300 pages, specifically for beginners and for general chemistry. The suggestion of finding a first edition of Pauling's General Chemistry, 250 pp. was given, but it was noted that it may not be very concise. Other recommendations included Sienko and Plane's Chemistry for high school and first year college students, and "Chemical Principles: the quest for insight" by Atkins and Jones. It was also mentioned that a used edition of the latter could be purchased for a low price and come with additional resources.

You might want to have a look at the first hundred pages or so of "Chemical Principles: the quest for insight" by Atkins and Jones.
You can buy a used edition (I bought the first edition for a penny) on Amazon or other used books stores and it will have the bonus of a full-fledged book attached to it.
