Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around ambient power modules, specifically their functionality, power output, size, and cost in mass production. Participants explore various forms of ambient energy, including solar, RF signals, and other renewable sources.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about the effectiveness of ambient power modules and poses specific questions regarding their power output, size, and production costs.
  • Another participant suggests that solar energy is the most viable form of ambient power, while also mentioning wave, wind, and hydro energy as alternatives.
  • A different participant references a specific website discussing ambient power and questions its validity.
  • One participant argues that extracting power from RF signals would yield very low power output, suggesting that solar power is a more effective option and emphasizing the principle that energy cannot be created from nothing.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the effectiveness and viability of various ambient power sources, indicating that multiple competing perspectives remain without a clear consensus.

Contextual Notes

Some assumptions about the efficiency and practicality of different ambient power sources are not fully explored, and there are unresolved questions regarding the specific technologies and their limitations.

Hi

Does anyone have any experience with ambient power modules? I have a few questions, if anyone could answer any of them i would be most apreciative.
1) do they work?
2) how much power can they output?
3) how small can you make them?
4) how much could you make them for (in mass production)?

Thanks

Solar energy is the only ambient power I know of that is worth pursuing.

Edit: also wave, wind and hydro energy

what about this though? http://www.angelfire.com/ak5/energy21/ambientpower.htm

any idea if this would work?

If you are talking about getting power from RF signals in the air (which is what a radio receiver does) then you are only going to be able to get a few micro-watts at best. You would be better off getting power from the sun. Note, you can't get something for nothing.
