Ansys mechanical APDL input file creation

SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on creating a shape memory alloy (SMA) model using ANSYS Workbench 12.0, specifically addressing the absence of a built-in SMA model. Users are advised to define material properties in Mechanical APDL and generate an input file (.inp) for analysis. The lack of available resources online for this specific task highlights the need for clear guidance on defining SMA properties and creating the necessary input file.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with ANSYS Workbench 12.0
  • Understanding of Mechanical APDL scripting
  • Knowledge of shape memory alloy material properties
  • Experience with input file (.inp) creation for finite element analysis
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to define material properties for shape memory alloys in Mechanical APDL
  • Learn the syntax and structure of ANSYS input files (.inp)
  • Explore tutorials on using ANSYS Workbench for custom material modeling
  • Investigate community forums for shared input file examples and best practices
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, researchers, and students working with finite element analysis in ANSYS, particularly those focusing on shape memory alloys and custom material modeling.

hello everybody. i have a quick question.
i am going to make a shape memory alloy model in ansys workbench 12.0 . as workbench does not have the SMA model, i have to make material properties in mechanical APDL and then make an input file. but i don't know how to define properties and make the input file.
can anybody do me a favor and help?
thank you so much.

When you say "Workbench does not have the SMA model" do you mean the engineering library doesn't have one built-in, or just just don't know how to define one in WB?

actually, i haven't found the SMA model in ansys workbench and nothing was also available on the internet. everybody says that you can do it by defining the properties in Mechanical APDL and creating an input file and then complete your analysis through workbench. but i don't know how to create this input file(.inp)
thanks
