Apprenticeships in structual engineering?

I was wondering.. Can you get appernticeships (earn while you learn) schemes in the structual enginnering area? If so once completed your apprenticeship would that be any different to a degree etc in structual enginnering? What would be the best way?

You could earn your keep in a structural firm if you can draft.
